One Thing They Want You To Know (Part One)
We asked the resident writers, “What is one thing you want people to know about the unseen realm?” Here is what they want you to know:
Jeremy Jenkins
I would say that the thing I wish more people knew about the unseen realm is that understanding it will also help us understand how much prayer really matters! James 5 says:
“the prayer of a righteous person has great power as it is working,”
And this is because interceding to the king of all creation is interceding to Him who is sovereign over that unseen realm. I have seen my own habit of prayer greatly enriched through my study of the spiritual component of this created world!

There is so much I wish people knew about the unseen realm, but a couple of highlights I wish I had known early on as a follower of Jesus are that God, in His infinite wisdom, always wanted the earthly and spiritual realms to overlap and interact. They were always intended to be a cosmic realm united by the cosmic King of Heaven and Earth, Jesus. Sin created a rupture, and it resulted in a cosmic rip. The earthly and spiritual realms were separated, but throughout the Bible, they constantly interact.
What happens in one realm always impacts the other.
I wish we wouldn’t try to rationalize away the supernatural elements of the Bible. Moments of cosmic showdown don’t need to be rationalized in earthly terms or understanding, they need to be placed in the grand scheme of Gods salvation plan for humanity which is simply - cosmic. This relieves us from our obsessive need to understand everything and instead embrace a life of belief and learning as the Lord brings revelation.
I really wish we wouldn’t place Satan and the dark powers in a conceptual equal status to God. The majority of believers would never say this but it’s how they act. We say the enemy is “everywhere” or we say the enemy can seems to do anything. They can’t. They are not omnipresent, omnipotent, nor omniscient like Yahweh. The enemy does not share in the incommunicable attributes of God. They are limited in time and space as created beings. Even their spiritual existence is ordered, maybe not in earthly categories but by a the uncreated Creator - Yahweh.
Bottom line - I just want people to take the unseen realm seriously. Because God does.
